There was only a solitary PDM Buildbase Conference A last matchday as Maryhill won 3-2 away too Girvan, leapfrogging them in the table as most of the other clubs took part in the Junior Cup, This week we were down for a full card but due to the ongoing pandemic a couple of games have fallen to isolation (Bellshill v Arthurlie and Lesmahagow v Girvan), whereas Muirkirk’s match v Saltcoats has been forfeited with Muirkirk given a default 3-0 victory.
Craigmark Burntonians can go level on points with leaders Arthurlie when they host Maybole at Station Park and confidence must be high at the Mark, having won 5 of their last 6 matches and sitting in third place with 22 points from their opening 10 fixtures. Maybole themselves have picked up a decent run of form in the league and are unbeaten in four. Both teams took part in the Junior cup last week and Craigmark scored 7 in a 7-1 win away to Lugar, Maybole for their part, lost seven in a 7-0 defeat at Newlandsfield to Pollok. A win for Maybole can put them level with 6th place Bellshill with the Rockburn Park side not playing this week.
Johnstone Burgh got back to winning ways on their last West of Scotland matchday having bounced back from two straight defeats with a 2-0 win over Glasgow University at Keanie Park and followed that up with a 4-2 win in the Junior Cup last week, The Burgh have been steadily climbing the Conference A table having put together 4 wins in their last 6 matches to occupy 7th but visitors Forth have an identical record of 5 wins 1 draw and 3 defeats from their first 9 matches also winning four of their last 6 but have taken 13 from the 18 on offer, however the Burgh have a slightly better goal difference. A win for either side would see them leapfrog Bellshill.
Lugar managed to score 4 goals in their last Rosebank outing but also conceded seven to keep their dismal run of form in place, failing to have taken a point since their opening day win over Saltcoats and it could be a long day as they host second place Shotts Bon Accord who know a win will put them top of the conference with Arthurlie not playing. Shotts have been in good form this season winning eight and losing only two of their ten games so far winning five of their last 6, scoring 21 goals in those games and only conceding seven, six of the goals scored coming in their 6-0 win at Forth in their last WoSFL outing.
Maryhill will be looking to build on their run of 2 wins in their last 3 as they host bottom placed Irvine Victoria at Lochburn Park. Their 3-2 win over Girvan lifted the ‘Hill to 9th and they could climb as high as 7th with a win. The Vics will be looking to pick up their first win of the season, a result that would lift them off the bottom with Saltcoats not playing.
The last match of Conference A for this match day see’s Whitletts Victoria face Glasgow University at Dam Park with the home side currently sitting in 4th position and their visitors in 12th. Whitletts are unbeaten in four, having won 3 and drawn one, and have won 4 of their last six matches whilst have only won on of their last four, having not picked up all 3 points in their last two, a 1-1 draw with Lesmahagow at Craighead Park, and a 2-0 defeat last time out at Keanie Park to Johnstone Burgh
